 CYNDI BRISENO
  ECH Counselor

Cyndi is the Edcouch-Elsa TSTEM Early College High School Counselor.  Cyndi has a combined 20 years of experience in    education from four years as an English teacher of sixteen years as a high school guidance counselor.  She has earned elementary Bilingual/ESL certification and an elementary certification.  Ms. Briseno earned her High School degree from Edcouch-Elsa High School then attended and graduated from the University of Eastern Michigan and the University of Texas Pan American.  Cyndi’s goal for our students is to have all of our ECHS students graduate “Core Complete” with college and/or an Associates Degree.

Rafael Cerda
U.S History/Government AP Teacher

Ralph Cerda is currently a US History and Government AP teacher at the Edcouch-Elsa TSTEM Early College High School.  His experience consists of thirteen years in education.  He has taught World History, US History Pre-AP and AP, Government/Economics AP and is currently the Social Studies Department Chair.  Ralph has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Studies.  He is a proud graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School and graduated from the University of Texas Pan American.  His goals for his early college high school students are that 100% of them meet the standard for the US History STAAR EOC and that HIS AP STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL WITH A 3 OR BETTER ON THE AP exam. Most importantly; however, is that his students be ready to face the challenges in post-secondary education or the workforce.

Mr. Gomez
Geometry Teacher

Juan Gomez is a 10th grade Geometry teacher.  He has 9 years in education all of which have been here at the Edcouch-Elsa High School.  Juan Gomez has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics which he earned from Lyon College.  He is a graduate from East Poinsett High School in Arkansas.  His goal for his ECHS students is that they succeed in Math and pass their Math TSI in order to be college ready.

Marissa Marmolejo
World Geo/U.S. History Teacher

Marissa Marmolejo is currently teaching World Geography and U.S. History Dual at the Edcouch-Elsa TSTEM Early College High School.  Marissa has also taught World Geography Pre-AP, Human Geography SP, World History, Government AP and Macro-Economics AP.  She attended the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley and her degree is in the area of Political Science with a minor in History.  Marissa also hold a Master’s degree in History.  She has also taught US History 1301 and History 1302 at South Texas College.  In 2007 she was selected Teacher of the Year.  Her goal for her students is that she adequately prepare her students for a post-secondary education after leaving high school by engaging her students in a college-readiness and rigorous curriculum.

Pedro Carrizales
Algebra I Teacher

Pedro Carrizales has been in education for eight years teaching    Algebra I for eight years and Engineering courses for two years.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a certification in AutoCad Advanced, OSHA Safety and Health Fundamental NFPA 13 (National Fire Protection Association) AutoSPRINK VR  and a teaching certificate in Mathematics.  Pedro graduated from Donna High School and then attended the University of Texas Pan American.  His goal for his students is to inspire a passion for engineering and raise an awareness on the importance of STEM professions.

Jesse Martinez
Chemistry Pre-Ap Teacher

Jesus Martinez is a Chemistry Pre-AP teacher at the Edcouch-Elsa TSTEM Early College High School.  This year Mr. Martinez will complete his 23rd year in education which consists of seventeen years as a para-professional and six years as a classroom teacher.  Jesus has taught Earth-Space Science, Environmental Systems, Biology EOC and Chemistry.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and is a proud graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School.  Jesus graduated from the University of Texas Pan American and his goal for his students is to ensure that they receive the best education in Science that will enhance their ability to succeed at a higher level in education.  He says, “I will provide them with as many resources and materials needed to accomplish this goal.”

Angelica Rivera
English II Teacher

Mrs. Rivera is currently an English II teacher here at the Edcouch-Elsa TSTEM Early College High School.  Her experience consists of seven years teaching in Mercedes, Texas and the last thirteen years here in Edcouch-Elsa for a total of twenty years of teaching experience combined.  She has taught both English I and English II.  Mrs. Rivera has a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Spanish and an ESL endorsement.  She is a proud graduate of The University of Texas – Pan American.  Her goal for her students is to help them learn, understand and appreciate the English curriculum which includes Reading and Writing.  She would also like to help them grow as responsible students and citizens and to be positive influences in high school.

Amanda Medina
Biology Teacher

Amanda is currently a Biology teacher here at the Edcouch-Elsa TSTEM Early College High School.  Amanda has eight years of teaching experience.  She has taught Biology for two years and for six years she taught Anatomy & Physiology.  She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Disorders.  Amanda graduated high school from   Simon Rivera in Brownsville, Texas and received her degree from the University of Texas Pan American.  Her goal for her students is to help them graduate by helping them pass their EOC Biology exam and to help them become responsible citizens in society.
