Stinger Football Teams Bring Home Victories

STINGERS WIN 3 OF 4 GAMES AGAINST WESLACO CUELLAR

Our mighty Stinger Football teams played against Weslaco Cuellar this past Saturday and came away with impressive victories.

At Benny Layton Sr. Memorial Stadium (“The Black Hole”), our 8th Grade Stinger A team defeated the Weslaco Cuellar Wildcats 18-16 when Fernando Vasquez kicked the 2 point conversion at the end. Scoring for the Stingers were Ricky Sanchez and Albert Trevino with 1 touchdown each. Andrew Gomez also rushed for a game high 100 yards.

The 8th Grade B team were defeated by the Cuellar Wildcats 12-0 in a hard fought game with plenty of action. The boys never gave up and played their hearts out.

At Weslaco East High School, our 7th Grade A team defeated Weslaco Cuellar 12-0. Scoring for the Stingers were Matthew Segura with 1 touchdown, and Marc Barco who scored a touchdown on a great defensive play.

Our 7th Grade B team easily defeated Weslaco Cuellar 22-0 with stellar performances by the Stingers.

The Stingers next face Donna Todd on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Games are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. The 8th Grade will play at E-E, while the 7th Grade travels to Donna.
